Connect Adeli to ChatGPT
Post, schedule, reply to comments or messages, and read analytics on social accounts you own, all within ChatGPT.
Paste this into ChatGPT or Codex
Set up Adeli from tryadeli.com/agents/chatgptYour agent reads this page, asks for your Adeli API key, and sets everything up.
Or send the full prompt
Use this if your agent can't open links, or if you'd rather give it everything in one message. It covers the same setup as the link above.
Set up Adeli in ChatGPT or Codex so you can publish posts, read analytics, and manage comments and DMs on my social accounts (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X).

About Adeli:
- MCP server: https://app.tryadeli.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP)
- Auth: header `Authorization: Bearer <ADELI_API_KEY>`. API key only, no OAuth.
- REST API with the same key: https://app.tryadeli.com/api/v1
- Docs for agents: https://app.tryadeli.com/docs/llms.txt
Do this:
1. Ask me for my Adeli API key (it starts with rk_live_). If I don't have one, tell me to sign up free at https://app.tryadeli.com, connect my social accounts, and create a key at https://app.tryadeli.com/settings/api-keys. Keep the key out of chat logs, public files, and git; store it in an environment variable or the app's secret settings.
2. If you are Codex (or any OpenAI agent with a terminal): make sure ADELI_API_KEY is exported in my shell profile, then add this to ~/.codex/config.toml and tell me to restart Codex:
[mcp_servers.adeli]
url = "https://app.tryadeli.com/mcp"
bearer_token_env_var = "ADELI_API_KEY"
3. If you are ChatGPT on the web: you can't add Adeli yet, because ChatGPT apps only support OAuth or no auth and Adeli uses an API key. Tell me that plainly and walk me through the Codex steps on the page instead.
4. Verify: call the list_accounts tool (or GET https://app.tryadeli.com/api/v1/accounts) and show me my connected accounts. A 401 means the key is wrong or revoked.
Rules once connected:
- Always ask me before you publish, reply, send a message, delete, or disconnect anything. These act on my real accounts.
- Start with list_accounts and use its accountId values. Leave profileId out.
- For TikTok and YouTube video, pass a public HTTPS video URL, not a file upload.Get your Adeli API key
Whether your agent sets this up or you do, you need one thing from Adeli first.
- Create a free Adeli account. Sign in with Google. Your first 3 connected accounts are free and no credit card is required.
- Connect your social accounts in the Adeli dashboard (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, or X).
- Create an API key under Settings → API keys. It starts with
rk_live_. Treat it like a password: paste it into your agent’s settings or your terminal, never into a public file or a shared chat.
Connect ChatGPT by hand
Prefer to do it yourself? Follow these steps. They take about two minutes.
Codex reads MCP servers from ~/.codex/config.toml and can send your key as a bearer token from an environment variable.
Create an Adeli API key
Sign in to Adeli, connect your social accounts, then go to Settings → API keys and create a key. It starts with rk_live_. Copy it somewhere safe; you'll paste it in a moment.
Put the key in your shell
Add this to your ~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc so Codex can read it in every session.
Terminalexport ADELI_API_KEY="rk_live_YOUR_KEY"Add Adeli to Codex
Open ~/.codex/config.toml (create it if it doesn't exist) and add this block. The Codex IDE extension reads the same file.
~/.codex/config.toml[mcp_servers.adeli] url = "https://app.tryadeli.com/mcp" bearer_token_env_var = "ADELI_API_KEY"Check it's connected
Start Codex and type /mcp. adeli should be listed with its tools.
Codex/mcp
ChatGPT's developer mode can add remote MCP servers as apps, but the form offers only OAuth or no authentication. There's no field for an API key, so it can't connect to Adeli yet. Until Adeli adds OAuth, here's what works today.
Use Codex with the same account
Codex comes with ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise. Follow the Codex CLI tab above and you'll have Adeli inside OpenAI's agent in about two minutes.
Or let ChatGPT write, then post from Codex
Draft and refine posts in ChatGPT as usual, then paste the final copy into Codex and ask it to publish through Adeli.
Things to ask once it's connected
- List my connected Adeli accounts and tell me which platforms they're on.
- How did my Instagram posts do over the last 30 days? Show reach and engagement for the top 5.
- Show me unanswered comments on my latest TikTok and draft a reply to each. Don't send anything yet.
- Publish this video to my YouTube channel as unlisted: https://example.com/clip.mp4. Title it 'Behind the scenes'.
Your agent asks before it posts, replies, or sends a message. The full tool list is in the MCP tools reference.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I add Adeli as an app in ChatGPT?
Not yet. ChatGPT's developer mode apps authenticate with OAuth or no auth, and Adeli's MCP server takes an API key. Use Codex, OpenAI's coding agent, which supports bearer-token MCP servers and comes with paid ChatGPT plans.
Does this work with the Codex IDE extension too?
Yes. The Codex CLI and IDE extension share ~/.codex/config.toml, so adding Adeli once makes it available in both.
Can a custom GPT call Adeli?
A custom GPT action can call Adeli's REST API at app.tryadeli.com/api/v1 with an API key header. That's the API, not MCP, and you define the actions yourself. See the API docs.
