Meta Business Verification Stuck in Review? What to Do
Meta says a business verification decision can take up to 14 business days, but many developers wait weeks or months with no request for documents. Don't edit your business details while it's in review, because Meta says any edit restarts verification. Check Security Center and keep your portfolio. If verification is blocking a launch, a unified API like Adeli lets you ship on Meta apps that are already verified and approved.
If your Meta business verification has been "In review" for weeks, the safest move is to leave the submission alone and check a short list of things around it. Meta says a decision can take up to 14 business days, but developers on Meta's forums report waits of a month or more with no request for documents. Editing your business details restarts verification, so don't touch them while you wait.
What is Meta business verification?
Meta business verification is Meta's check that a business portfolio belongs to a real, registered business. You start it in Security Center in Meta Business Suite. Only someone with full control of the portfolio can submit it.
Meta's About business verification page says verification confirms two things:
- The business is a legal entity. It's registered with local authorities and has an official phone number or mailing address.
- You're an authorized representative. You can receive a code at the business's phone number or email address, or verify the business's domain.
Meta lists developer features, the WhatsApp Business Platform, daily ad spending limits and some billing options among the things that can require it. It doesn't give you a badge. That's a separate product, Meta Verified.
When do I need business verification for a Meta app?
A Meta app needs business verification when it requests Advanced Access or lets other businesses access their own data. Meta's developer doc on business verification says that until the app is connected to a verified business, "app users from other Businesses will be unable to grant these apps permissions."
| Your app | Business verification needed? |
|---|---|
| Used only by people with a role on the app (admins, developers, testers) | No. They can grant any permission. |
| Serves your customers' Instagram accounts, Facebook Pages or ad accounts | Yes, before App Review for Advanced Access |
| Becomes a WhatsApp Business Platform Tech Provider | Yes |
So a stuck verification blocks your launch twice over: you can't submit App Review for Advanced Access until it clears. Our Meta app review timeline covers what comes after.
How long does Meta business verification take?
Meta's Help Center says a business verification decision "may take up to 14 business days." Security Center itself tells people to expect about 2 business days. Developer reports from 2026 run much longer:
| Source | What it says |
|---|---|
| Meta Help Center | Up to 14 business days |
| Security Center (as reported on the forums) | About 2 business days |
| Forum report, October 14, 2026 | 32 business days, submitted as an individual developer, no request for documents |
| Forum report, October 12, 2026 | In review since the end of June 2026, about 3.5 months, details matching the company's registration |
None of the threads we read had an answer from Meta staff, and none recorded a resolution.
Why is business verification taking longer than it used to?
Meta's own answer is volume. In a forum report from October 2026, Meta's bug tool replied to a stuck case with this:
"Due to a high volume of submissions, there may be delays in one or more stages of the process."
Meta bug tool reply, as quoted on the Meta Community Forums
Our read is that AI is behind a lot of that volume. Meta hasn't said so. This is our view from going through Meta's reviews ourselves:
- More products get built. AI coding tools let a solo developer ship a product that touches Instagram or Facebook in a weekend. Each one needs its own verified business and its own App Review.
- More rushed submissions. Some teams use AI to fill in verification and review forms without reading what Meta asks for. Those submissions fail or need a human to look, and they sit in the same queue as everyone else's.
Every one of those lands in the same business verification and App Review queues as yours, and the people stuck in them all try the same few support channels.
What should I do while business verification is in review?
Leave the submission as it is and check everything around it. Meta's Help Center says, "If you edit your business details, then you need to complete the verification process again." Here's what to check instead:
- Check Security Center for requests. Open Security Center in Meta Business Suite and look for a request for documents or a rejection reason. Some products send verification requests by email or from another tool, such as Commerce Manager, so check there too.
- Compare your details with your registration. Meta asks that the legal business name, address, phone number and website "exactly match the details of your legal business entity." If they don't, you'll have to fix them, which restarts verification. Better to know now than after another month.
- Load your website. Meta lists a website that fails to load, isn't on HTTPS, or links to an error page as a rejection reason.
- Verify your domain. Domain verification, done with a meta tag or a DNS record, is one way to confirm you represent the business. If it isn't done yet, it doesn't touch your business details.
- Confirm your role. Only someone with full control of the portfolio can complete verification. In the App Dashboard, Settings > Basic > Verification should show the app connected to the business you're verifying.
- Keep building. People with a role on your app can grant any permission, so you can build and record your App Review screencasts while you wait.
Which Meta support channels help with stuck business verification?
Developers report that none of Meta's support channels can push a stuck business verification through. Most of them end at the Help Center or a forum.
| Channel | What developers report |
|---|---|
| Meta Business Support Home | Every intake path ends at "Visit Help Center." One showed "your support case has been created," but the case never appeared in the Support Inbox. |
| Meta AI business assistant | Can't escalate to a live agent. |
| Live chat | "Temporarily unavailable" when developers tried it. |
| Bug tool | Says it can't look into individual cases and points to the Developer Community Forum. |
| Meta Community Forums (communityforums.atmeta.com) | This is the Meta Horizon VR developer forum. Regulars there tell business verification posters no one can help them there. |
| Meta Developer Community | The right forum for app developers. Post your portfolio ID, submission date and what you've checked, but expect other developers to answer, not Meta staff. |
Should I delete my business portfolio and start over?
No. Nothing in Meta's docs or the forum threads we read shows that a new portfolio gets verified faster. You'd lose the portfolio's assets and history, have to reconnect your app, and start the queue from zero. If you're worried the submission fell out of the queue, ask about it in the Meta Developer Community with your portfolio ID. Don't resubmit.
What are my options if business verification blocks my launch?
You can wait, launch to a small group, or build on a unified API that already holds verified Meta apps.
| Option | When it works | The cost |
|---|---|---|
| Wait | You need your own Meta app long term and can afford weeks of delay | No timeline, and App Review still comes after |
| Launch to people with app roles | A private beta with a handful of users | Each user has to be added to your app as a tester |
| Use a unified API | You need Instagram, Facebook and other networks live for customers now | You pay per profile and work within the features the API exposes |
Going direct vs. using a unified API
Going direct means more control and more queues. A unified API means you skip the queues and work within what the API covers. Here's how they compare for a team building social features into its product:
| Going direct to each platform | Using a unified API (Adeli) | |
|---|---|---|
| Network access | One developer app and one review per network | Official API access to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X and Bluesky through one API |
| Business verification and App Review | You go through both on every platform, and each one can stall | Adeli already holds the verified apps and approved permissions |
| Support | Bots, a bug tool and forums, with no human for your case | Email hello@tryadeli.com and a person gets back to you, which is faster than a bot that sends you to a forum |
| Platform standing | Your app starts out as a new, small app in each platform's queue | Adeli's apps already run at production volume across many customers |
| Auth and keys | You build OAuth and refresh every token yourself | Adeli stores tokens and handles refresh. You hold one API key. |
| Docs your AI agent can use | Separate docs, auth flows and quirks per platform | One API, an MCP server, and an agent skill your coding agent can follow |
| Control | Full control of every endpoint and every integration | Limited to the features Adeli exposes |
Going direct makes sense if one platform is your core product and you need endpoints a unified API doesn't cover. If you need several networks live for customers and verification is what's holding you up, a unified API takes it off your plate.
How does Adeli fit in?
Adeli is a unified social media and ads API that runs on its own verified Meta apps, so your customers connect Instagram and Facebook accounts without you going through Meta business verification. We went through Meta's process ourselves. When we submitted ads_management, pages_manage_ads and leads_retrieval, Meta approved all three on the first submission, with the result on October 15, 2026.
With Adeli you get posting to Instagram and Facebook, plus TikTok, YouTube, X and Bluesky, behind one API key. If you're building social features for your customers, see how teams use it for AI marketing platforms.
